Holistic massage can be entirely relaxing, soft and light, or more foucsed with deep and well intentioned pressure. The main focus is to create an experience that supports you in feeling better with whatever is going on: be that through relaxation, stress relief, tension relief, joint loosening or just providing a lovely space to let your mind and body just be.

What should I wear and will I need to undress?

You only undress to your comfort level. Most people remove clothing down to your underwear, but you remain covered with a drape throughout the session except for the area being treated.

Will the massage hurt?

Not by intention. Massage, in any form works best through creating an experience that is calming and relaxing for both mind and body, thus creating the right conditions for the brain to send positive signals to the muscles to allow them to relax. In doing so, the massage given will be more effective at loosening, lengthening and easing any muscle soreness and tightness. Some areas may feel tender to touch at first where they are tense and tired. Through the use of specific massage techniques, we will work with your level of comfort to ease these areas. My aim in the treatment is to work with what feels right to you and your body.

What should I do after the massage?

Drink water, rest if possible, and avoid strenuous or stressful activity immediately afterward. Gentle movement, stretching and just enjoying being relaxed afterward are recommended to amplify the benefits of the massage.

This depends on the goals we set during our consultation. Some people have regular monthly sessions to support their wellbeing and relaxation, while others come more regularly during stressful periods, when managing extra tension or are getting more remedial support for an ongoing issue.
