About
Hi, I'm Sam Rudd, a level 4 holistic massage therapist and bodyworker trained by the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork, Massage Training Institute accredited.
Before becoming qualified and starting Free to Move Holistic Massage, injury from a sporty lifestyle (climbing, running, swimming) forced me to recognise the necessity of taking greater care of my physical body if I wanted to continue enjoying these interests; my own mental health challenges led me to realise the true value of understanding the mind-body connection and the benefits of touch therapy to helping regulate and re-ground after a difficult period. These learned and lived insights have driven a want to help others seeking just that, the ability to be Free to Move in their own body and mind through guided, nourishing, restorative and supportive touch.
I believe we all walk with a degree of intuitive understanding to what we believe our body needs - a holiday, foods cravings, whether to go out that night, massage (!)-, what this awareness feels like - e.g. that visceral gut feeling to a difficult question- and that sometimes we fall out of touch with this sense for being caught up in life's current challenge: at which point, we lack the map and the instructions to find that awareness and control again. I wish to help people along this journey as a holistic masseur to aid people in better understanding the intelligence of both body and mind, and how they can befriend and bring better awareness and balance to this partnership that allows us to claim greater agency in navigating our lives.
Before embarking on my journey with massage therapy bodywork, I've spent the last decade working in sustainable food and farming, working to support a change in the way we connect with our food and our environment. Needless to say, my downtime is usually spent in nature or cooking!
